'Batman Returns' commentary

Body parts in a sewer? Deformed man leering at young women? Sexy death wish suicide kisses?

Yes, nothing says Christmas like Timmy Burton's second and final entry in the Batman franchise - 'Batman Cum Back'. It's a film that's GOFFIK as all buggery, that's bleak, that's bizarrely humour ridden and one that seems to divide fans from being a classic to being a complete occupation of Gotham by the forces of Timmy B's fevered black dreams - So which is it?

There's only one way to find out and it's to listen to this here commentary and reflect that, no matter how bad your Christmas is going, Selena Kyle's is going worse.

WARNING - This film may be Tim Burton's pure MEGA LOLZ!!!

@proroan reviews 'Batman' and 'Batman Returns'

It's December. It's dark. It's cold.

It's Tim Burton month!

This is something not lost on @proroan of 'Apparently Ranty' as the damn rascal returns to the mash-up to delve deep into old Timmy Burton's Michael Keaton lead two hander, a couple of films that, as Dicky Donner's 'Superman' did a decade earlier, completely redefined an audience's sense of how a comic book property would be represented onscreen.

So, with no further ado, we'll hand over to @proroan to see what he thinks about Burton's journey into the heart of darkness!

'Batman' Commentary

Holy December, Listeners!

After two months of flying high with the Man of Steel, it's time to sink down into the depths of the night, as we finally get ready to spend a couple of months with the world's greatest detective, the most stable man in town, the Dark Knight himself -yes, THE BAT MAN.

So, kicking off our time with the Bat, we have our Tim Burton month (appropriately December), beginning with 1989's 'Batman', starring the delightful Michael Keaton, a man many feared was going to take the caped crusader in a distinctly comical direction - but who's laughing now, eh?

So, sit back in your leather chair, turn off the lights and await for the bat signal to illuminate your brooding visage - it's time!

@polly_sugar takes us on a look back through the BATMEN!

We're very happy to have the delightful @polly_sugar on board the mash-up, this time kicking off our greatly anticipated Tim Burton month! To begin our mammoth focus on the cinematic Batman franchise, she takes us on a personal look back at growing up with the various men to don the cowl and grace the silver screen as the Dark Knight.

Enjoy!

Fact: I will happily (yes, happily) sit and watch Joel Schumacher’s Batman films. Back to back even. At the time of their release, Batman fans who were older than me (and maybe those of my generation who previously took an interest in the comics) were probably horrified by these gaudy incarnations of the caped crusader. A character so dignified and noble, wrapped up & sexed up in a tight rubber suit with nipples, and tossed merrily around a fluorescent toy box resembling Gotham City (or London’s Trocadero, could be either).

'Apparently Ranty' reviews Superman II, III AND IV!

Our good friend @proroan, otherwise known as 'Apparently Ranty', has pulled a blinder and reviewed all three of the increasingly dreadful Superman sequels and boy, he's not shy in his view of them!

Settle yourself in, and be taken on a journey into hades...but, y'know, funny.

'Goats in the Machine' reviews 'Superman IV - A Quest for Piss'

Oh, how far we've fallen. Join our wondrous pals Rob Bayley (@RJBayley) and Niall Hestline of Goats in the Machine as they tackle the final Christopher Reeve film, the film that made us ask such questions as 'Why did Superman become old for 30 seconds?', 'why can women breathe in space?' and, most vitally, 'why did I consent to watching this film?'.

It's a true cracker of a podcast this time, so prepare yourself to hear two grown men reduced to the level of simpletons.

'Goats in the Machine' reviews 'Superman III'

Arguably the worst of the Superman franchise (ARGUABLY) 'Superman III' finds the Man of Steel replaced in his own film, usurped by Guy Gorman, played by the masterful Lionel Ritchie, a casting choice not lost on our good friends from Goats in the Machine - so, relax into your comfy chair, prepare your cracks and bongs and get ready for some aural stimulation courtesy of Robert Bayley (@RJBayley) and Niall Hestletine!
